Thinking of Summer

After a mini-CoeBRAI reunion with Bob and Lonnie on election night, my thoughts have frequently been turning to the open road and summer in Iowa. Unfortunately, with winter looming it looks like it's time to transfer my bike from the garage to the basement, still about 53 miles shy of the 1,500-mile mark for the season. The good news is that we are now within 250 days of RAGBRAI '09, so start counting the days!

Due to the lack of space in Chicago...our bikes reside in our second bedroom and each time I walk by I am saddened to know it will be awhile before they will be utilized again.

But I have discovered the spin bike and well it is pretty brutal but I keep going back for more...kind of like ragbrai!!

Do stationary miles count? If so, I'm way over the personal best 1,061.7 miles I recorded in 2008. Imagine what I'll do if Mother Nature cuts us some slack in 2009!

Haven't you guys ever heard of gloves, helmet liners and long johns? If there isn't a foot of snow on the ground you should still be able to ride. Next thing you know you'll be saying you can't ride because its been raining too much!
